Papaver - Ed. 100 (2004)
Ancient medicinal plants were the inspiration for a series of 4 weights designed by Allan Scott for the Whitefriars Collection at Caithness. Papaver Somniferum - or Opium Poppy - was traditionally used as a pain killer and to induce sleep. The clear glass is set with a single pink & white flower and a large bluish-green bud. They are supported by 2 stems bearing bluish-green leaves with serrated edges. The weight is finished with a concave front and flat rear facet plus 5 notch-cuts of differing lengths.
The polished base is scratch-numbered 43-100 and signed by Allan Scott.
