Originally attributed to Paul Ysart (due to the typical Ysart canes), what puzzled us were the seemingly unconnected letters scratched around the base and the lightly-ground pontil mark. A lady who worked at Vasart pointed out that the letters (you had to look very closely!) formed the word “Pirelli”...a name used on Vasart Glass labels. Sometimes apparently - when they ran out of labels - they simply scratched the letters into the base. So, a Vasart attribution for a weight that we still consider to be from Paul Ysart - well, the canes at least !
