Garlanded Butterfly (PY cane)
A butterfly rests on a bed of radial latticinio twists within a garland of alternating pink & white millefiori canes. The insect has a green aventurine body, reddish head and black antennae. The wings are made of flattened millefiori canes. The pink/white fore wings are made of composite canes with an intricate centre, whereas the hind wings consist of single pale-amber/white cogs with a dark-blue/white centre.
The canes in the garland all have a green centre except for the one directly below the butterfly - it contains a tiny PY signature cane (easily overlooked!). The base is fire-polished with a central concavity, which has removed the pontil mark. Attributed to the Harland period - early 1970s.
