1950s Early Closepack

A rare early 1950s closepack. Due to the different height of the canes the surface is uneven and a small “dimple” on top of the dome spoils the profile. Maybe it doesn’t have the brilliance of 19th century weights, or the perfection of post-1970 weights, but this is probably one of the first 20th Century weights from St. Louis - made after a break of almost 100 years - when the glass artists were trying to re-create the techniques which had been lost.
Deeply concave, polished base.
