A wonderfully imaginative use of colour in this large experimental weight which remained a one-off. Encircled by purple/blue streamers, a golden bubble - topped by a small silver bubble - appears to be spinning out of a pool of molten metal and multi-coloured ore. Probably designed by Peter Holmes, who is well-known for his realistic “molten-metal” grounds.
Engraved around the polished concave base: Selkirk Glass Scotland 1998.
