Brocade Butterfly - Ed 250 (1988)
A butterfly design created by Allan Scott during the time he was working at Caithness. The insect has a lemon & black striped body and short black antennae. Its finely-detailed, transparent wings are outlined in black. Completing the design - which is set over a clear strawberry-cut ground - is a double garland of pale-yellow & pale-green millefiori canes. The weight is cut with a small concave top window and 10 oval side facets.
Script-signed above the basal rim: Brocade Butterfly, Whitefriars Caithness Scotland, 30/250. It is also signed by the artist Allan Scott. (Original certificate)
The planned edition of 250 was never completed; only just over 200 were made.
