An unusually large and high-domed post-classic weight - probably of Thuringian origin. Around a 5-point centre star - encircled by 8 slightly smaller stars - are 3 rows of millefiori canes in green, yellow, cobalt-blue, pink & white set on a thin, multi-coloured bed of cane fragments. The green & yellow corrugated canes in the first row are filled with tiny yellow rods. All the other canes contain the 5-lobed elements so typical for German weights of this period. The white canes in the outer row appear to be an attempt to re-create a ruffle cane ! The glass has a faint purple (manganese) tint. Typical flat-topped dome, with sides sloping down steeply to the flat, lightly-ground base.
