Single Viola

The viola - also referred to as a pansy - is one of the less common flowers from St. Louis. It has 2 deep-purple (almost black!) upper petals and 3 pale-yellow/amber lower petals with purple markings. In the centre is a pale-yellow millefiori “stamen”. There are 2 leaves behind the flowerhead with 2 further leaves on the short curving stem.
Set over a clear ground with a concave, grid-cut base.
