A good example of a post-classic closepack from the Riedel glassworks in Polaun (Bohemia) ca. 1870/80 featuring colourful millefiori canes. Most of the approx. 75 canes, which are set on a typical dark-green, mica-flecked cushion, are relatively simple (see pages 279 & 280 in Peter von Brackel’s book Classic Paperweights from Silesia/Bohemia). A couple of the canes appear to be cracked although the weight itself is not cracked.
Flat, lightly-polished base, showing a few scratches.
