This small paperweight is probably “one of the best” from Vasart !
The complex Maltese Cross centre is encircled by a row of 9 composite canes, each composed of 7 tiny elements - in pale- & dark-blue, turquoise, lavender, red and yellow - bundled together around a white cog. The white internal star canes have blue rod centres and the pairs of blue & white canes resemble Clichy pastry moulds. The canes are separated by fine white latticinio twists over a blood-orange ground.
Although the basal rim is polished, the centre of the base is flat and not polished. Possibly the weight started life as a drawer handle!
