Ysart Brothers/Vasart

Ysart Brothers Glass was set up in 1946 by Salvador Ysart and his sons Vincent and Augustine. Salvador Ysart emigrated from Spain and settled in Scotland in 1915. He started working at the Moncrieff glassworks in Perth in 1922 and was later joined by his sons. Although father and son Paul probably worked alongside each other, Salvador's paperweights never matched the quality of his son's weights or the variation in design and his output was nowhere near as prolific Only few paperweights are signed - with a "Y" signature cane. Ysart Brothers Glass made a wide range of millefiori items. In the mid 50s - after the death of Salvador and Augustine - Vincent renamed the company Vasart Glass but continued to produce paperweights, mainly for the gift trade. In 1964 Vasart Glass was acquired by William Teacher & Sons - the whisky distillers. New premises were built in Crieff and the name changed to Strathearn.
