Selkirk Glass was founded in 1977 with Peter Holmes - who had begun his career as an apprentice to Paul Ysart - as chief designer and master paperweight maker. Peter spent years developing and perfecting new designs and techniques which he put to good use in the high quality abstract weights Selkirk became known for. Weights made by Peter himself generally include a “PH” cane. Apart from abstract weights, Selkirk also produced excellent lampwork flower weights.
In 2005 the glassworks was acquired by Edinburgh Crystal, which shortly afterwards went into receivership and Selkirk Glass was forced to close down in July 2006.
