1970 Millefiori Zodiac

The Zodiac silhouette series - first introduced in 1958 - has been produced over the years as a carpet-ground in numerous colours and again and again as a closepack. This is a relatively early example - made 40 years ago - with the 12 signs of the zodiac scattered among an assortment of colourful complex canes. Signed B1970 on a single cane near the outer edge of the canopy of canes (ca. 8 o’clock in the first picture).
In addition to the acid-etched Baccarat insignia, the flat, polished base also bears a number (171) and the year 1970.
