Miniature Inkwell (dated 1848)

The spurious 1848 date cane would indicate an Arculus or Walsh-Walsh attribution - ca. 1920s. The base, which stands on a ca. 1/4" high foot has 4 rows of well set-up, pastel-coloured canes around a large central 16-point cog cane. The “4" in the date cane is mirror-inverted and is an unusual lavender colour and not blue like the other 3 numerals.
The 3 outer rows of canes - pink, pale-blue and mauve - are repeated in the ground-glass stopper - which, unfortunately, is not as neatly set-up as the base and contains some detritus.
The slightly ridged base has a small polished central concavity.
