A small weight from the Josephine Glassworks in Schreiberhau, Silesia. Set on the white muslin cushion (interwoven with a couple of red/yellow filigree twists) are 8 complex millefiori canes encircling a slightly off-centre, larger cane. 8 of the 9 canes have a red/white centre surrounded by a single row of 6, 7, 8 or 9 same-colour canes. The one exception has 2 outer rows with alternating coloured canes in the 2nd row. (Compare canes with those on pages 80-87 in Peter von Brackel’s book “Classic Paperweights from Silesia/Bohemia”).
Polished, concave base with a wide basal rim.
