Although one generally thinks of Bacchus weights as being magnum-sized, there are exceptions: such as this 2-row concentric. Encircling the large red-centred, 4-layer white “flowerhead” (ca. 22mm - 7/8" in diameter!) are 2 rows of white & blue ruffle and ogee-tipped cog canes accentuated by shades of pink and red. The second row - like many Bacchus weights - contains a “rogue” cane (at 11 o ‘clock in the main image). The translucent cobalt-blue rods forming the basket have wispy, white threads in the middle. The rods are drawn neatly to the centre of the base, which is finished with a polished central concavity and a wide basal rim.
Possibly an early weight, with not enough glass in the gather. It was then blocked too close to the canes - thus creating the slight swirling effect in the canes and outer rods.
