Our policy regarding returns for international orders is clearly stated in Paragraph 6 of our Terms & Conditions. It is quite straightforward and conforms to standard practice when buying and selling via the Internet. When purchasing a paperweight - or other items - from weights-n-things through the online shop, you must read and confirm the Terms & Conditions and the Cancellation & Returns Policy before clicking "Place Order".
To ensure the validity of the 2 week Cancellation period German law requires that domestic buyers must be provided with a copy of the Customer's Right to Cancel in written form before placing an order.
Having to confirm the Terms & Conditions and Cancellation & Returns Policy before clicking "Place Order" fulfills this condition.
Cancellation Instructions
The following paragraphs only apply to persons who can be regarded as consumers. A consumer is an individual who enters into a transaction for reasons which cannot be construed in any way as being connected with their business or self-employed occupational activities.
Customer's Right to Cancel
You have the right to cancel your online order in writing (e.g email, letter or fax) within 2 weeks without stating any reason - or if you have already received your order - by returning the goods. The time limit shall begin upon receipt of the Customer’s Right to Cancel in written form. The fact that you read and acknowledged said document before clicking “Place Order” in Step 6 of the Order Transaction fulfills this condition. The time limit shall also not begin prior to the goods being delivered to the customer nor before we have fulfilled our obligations to furnish information according to §312c, subsection 2 BGB (German Civil Code) in conjunction with §1, sections 1, 2 and 4 BGB-InfoV as well as our obligations according to § 312e, subsection 1, clause 1 BGB-InfoV. To comply with the time frame the cancellation notice must be despatched or the goods returned within the specified period.

Consequences of Cancellation
In the case of a valid cancellation the goods concerned and the price paid for them must be returned. If the goods are returned in a damaged condition, then you may be liable to pay compensation to cover the loss in value. This shall not apply if the damage is exclusively applicable to their examination - as would have been possible, for example, in a shop.
Goods capable of being sent by parcel post should be returned at our risk. You shall bear the costs of returning the goods if they are as described at the time of their purchase and the value does not exceed 40 Euros or, in the event of a higher price, if at the time you cancelled the order, you had not paid for them or paid a contractually-agreed instalment.
Payments must be refunded within 30 days. The deadline for you commences on the date the cancellation notification was sent or the goods despatched; for weights-n-things following their receipt.

We regret that we cannot accept cancellation notifications or returns on orders for items which have been made to a consumer’s specifications or personalized products, as these would then be difficult to sell to anyone else.
